Walt Trierweiler joined The Cicchetti Law Firm in 2008, after retiring from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel, where he was serving as the Chief of US Torts.
Lt. Col. Trierweiler received a B.S. in Political Science, with honors, from the Florida State University in1984, where he served as the Army ROTC Cadet Commander and as the Governor’s Cabinet Intern. 
Lt. Col. Trierweiler served four years as an Airborne and Ranger qualified Infantry Officer before returning to Florida State University for law school.
In 1991, Lt. Col. Trierweiler received a Juris Doctor degree from the Florida State University College of Law. As a law student, Mr. Trierweiler worked for The Young Law Firm. During law school, he served as Captain for the Mock Trial Team and was a member of the Moot Court. As a Public Service Fellow, he committed his first summer to Legal Services of North Florida and another as a prosecuting trial intern for the Office of the State’s Attorney.
Lt. Col. Trierweiler was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991 and returned to the Army as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. In 1993, then Captain Trierweiler deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia; the first of his eight deployments to combat and contingency areas as a JAG.
He secured his first Master of Laws degree from The Judge Advocate General’s Center and School in 2000, and his second Master of Laws degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, with a focus in Health Law, in 2004.
His prior work experience; encompassing over 20 years of Army service, which included: Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, Military District of Washington; Legal Advisor, Walter Reed Army Medical Center; Procurement Fraud Litigation Attorney; Special Assistant US Attorney (Civil, Torts); Senior Defense Counsel; and Chief of Justice, Third US Army/Army Central Command. He also served as Legal Advisor to the Post 9/11 Crisis Action Center in the Pentagon and as Chief, Operations Law, for the Coalition/Joint Task Force Kuwait. In 2006, Lt. Col. Trierweiler served as the Chief of Western US Torts, with personal responsibility for all tort claims filed in California, Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin. In 2007, he became responsible for overseeing all significant tort claims filed against the US Army, and US Army Corps of Engineers which alleged significant property damage, personal injury and wrongful death, arising from the operation of medical facilities, recreational areas, construction projects, trucking, aviation, automobile fleets and domestic military operations in the United States.
Lt. Col. Trierweiler practices in state court in Florida and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Lt. Col. Trierweiler’s areas of practice include: medical malpractice, commercial fleet liability, serious injury and wrongful death, insurance defense, premises liability, recreational area liability, truck accidents, government negligence and the Federal Tort Claims Act.
